Bottom line

Let's refuse disposable products of all types whenever possible and opt for bio-based alternatives when disposables can't be avoided. The point is to realize that we have choices and do the best we can. After five years of attempting to live plastic-free, I still sometimes end up with unexpected straws, wrappers, condiment containers, or plasticlined paper products. Let's cheer ourselves when we succeed, laugh at ourselves when we fail, and speak up to businesses and those who represent us to demand safer and less disposable packaging in the first place. We live in a throw-away society, and it's not going to change overnight. But each of our mindful choices and actions gets us one step closer to a healthier world.
